Priyadarshan has announced that he is willing to direct ‘Hera Pheri 3’, with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal starring in the film. The director, who celebrated his 68th birthday on January 30, 2025, revealed this news while responding to Akshay Kumar’s birthday wish.
Priyadarshan directed the first film of the franchise, which was released in 2000. The second film, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, which was released in 2006, was directed by Neeraj Vora.
Akshay Kumar responded to Priyadarshan’s announcement with a meme featuring his dialogue ‘Miracle’ from the film ‘Welcome’. He wrote on Instagram, “Sir!!! Your birthday and I got the best gift of my life. Chalo karte hain phir thodi Hera Pheri 3. :)”.
Suniel Shetty also reacted to the news. In the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise, Akshay Kumar plays Raju, Paresh Rawal plays Baburao Ganpat Rao Apte, and Suniel Shetty plays Ghamshyam/Shyam.
Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are currently working together on the film ‘Bhoot Bhangla’, a horror-comedy scheduled to be released on April 2, 2026.
Akshay Kumar was recently seen in ‘Sky Force’. Its co-actor Veer Pahariya hogged all the limelight and the film’s run seemed over-shadowed because of him widely being panned apparently for his overt and blatant PR activities.
