12-years-old Indian-origin American Abhimanyu Mishra has created history by breaking the 19 years old record becoming the youngest-ever chess grandmaster in the world. Abhimanyu scored his third GM norm in Budapest, having already crossed the required 2500 Elo rating barrier.
Abhimanyu broke GM Sergei Karjakin’s 19-years record. In 2002, Karjakin was 12 years and 7 months old when he won the grandmaster title. He achieved this position in the ongoing grandmaster tournament in Budapest, Hungary.
