The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, in partnership with Routes 2 Roots, is launching a series of year-long certificate courses in Indian art, music and dance for learners around the world. The courses cover Bhangra, calligraphy, Madhubani painting, Hindustani classical vocal music, Bollywood dance, tabla, Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi.
Classes will be offered at beginner and intermediate levels, with live sessions scheduled throughout the week. The courses will be conducted through live online classes, supplemented with recorded learning options, allowing flexible participation for students across different time zones. Participants who complete the courses successfully will receive certification recognising their learning and achievement.
The new courses begin in mid-July. Madhubani painting starts on July 16, followed by Bollywood dance and Kathak on July 17 and Hindustani classical vocal music on July 18.
The initiative builds on an earlier online programme launched in 2024, which introduced international participants to traditional art forms including henna design, rangoli, Madhubani painting and puppet making. Those earlier classes drew 1,441 registrations for henna, 1,094 for Madhubani painting, 794 for puppet making and 727 for rangoli, with participants from 51 countries.
Routes 2 Roots said the initiative provides a platform for individuals to develop creative skills, deepen cultural understanding and connect with a global community of learners and artists. The organisation added that it continues to play a role in promoting cultural exchange and strengthening people to people ties through education in Indian arts and heritage.
